Our recent win of all five seats is the result of the fabulous support we received from the Norwin community.  We want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for volunteering as poll greeters, canvassers, postcard writers, sign deliverers, sign installers, and fundraiser participants.  It was the efforts of all of you in the community that took us over the finish line.  For that, we are grateful.  We pledge to honor all of your labors and donations by living up to our platform.  Better days are ahead!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:  Amid the recent lawsuit by a Change4Norwin School Board member, the “We Are Norwin” candidates reaffirm our commitment to responsible leadership for our community with the statement below:

”We Are Norwin” stands unequivocally for responsible leadership and unwavering respect within our community.  We firmly believe that the privilege of free speech comes with the duty to exercise it responsibly, especially as public servants.

Our commitment to Norwin’s students, parents, and residents demands that we uphold the highest standards of conduct.  We reject any form of speech that undermines the values of empathy and integrity that our district stands for.

While individuals may hold differing political views, it is imperative that we express them without resorting to derogatory or offensive language.  We condemn any actions that tarnish the reputation of our school board and the district we represent.

”We Are Norwin” is resolute in our dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, regardless of their abilities.  We will tirelessly advocate for their rights and dignity, without compromise.

Our community deserves school board members who prioritize the betterment of education and the well-being of every student.  We will stand united against divisive rhetoric and work collaboratively to ensure that Norwin School District remains a place of respect, excellence, and opportunity for everyone.

Dear We Are Norwin supporters –

Your hard work helped us to earn some truly impressive results in the primary election.  We need you more than ever now! 

What do we need?  We need volunteers to help canvass, be poll greeters, sell fundraising tickets, ask family and friends for donations, and attend our fundraising.  Yes, it seems like a lot, but the more people we have volunteer, the less any one person has to do.

Why would you want to help?  There is currently a majority of board members who are committed to please the Westmoreland County Republican District 3 Committee and are pure politicians who truly do not care about the kids or taxpayers.  They cut classes resulting in many students not being able to take classes necessary for their futures, and resulting in kids being placed in study halls instead of academics.  Classroom sizes will swell and students won’t get the personal attention they need.  And by the end of next year, the district will have a $10 million deficit that taxpayers will need to face.  They currently have a lawsuit pending against three other board members because they don’t have the capacity to discuss board matters as reasonable adults.  And their slate of candidates offers nothing but more of the same. 

In the alternative, we will bring respect and honor back to our School Board.  We have business experience with better financial strategies.  We have educational experience both in the classroom and in administration to assure all students receive an education of excellence.  Best of all, we are a true bipartisan slate of three democrats and two republicans, who leave politics at the door so that we are able to work together for the benefit of the kids and taxpayers.

We are excited about the general election and look forward to working even harder with you to achieve greater success.  Thank you again for your unwavering support.

Bill Bojalad, Tim Kotch, Sr., Heath Shrum, Nina Totin, and Matt Thomas are ready, willing, and able to serve the Norwin School District’s students and the community at large.

Who we are – We are long time members of the Norwin community with multiple generations of Norwin graduates.  We attend church with you and your family.  We see you at PTA meetings, dance classes, and athletic competitions where we cheer on each other’s children.   We greet one another warmly when we pass by in the grocery store.  We know you, because you are much like we are.

We want our children and grandchildren to grow up in a safe learning environment, obtain excellent educations, and have access to a wide variety of extracurricular activities.  So do you.  We know that you want to live in a community with reasonable property taxes, and so do we.  And we know you want responsible, respectful, and reasonable people to represent you on the Norwin School Board.  

Despite the five of us belonging to different political parties, we are all of the mind that it is necessary to leave politics at the door.  Our children and community deserve better than what we have experienced the past two years.  We pledge to you that we will work together to give the children the best this school district has to offer, while being good stewards of taxpayer funds.  We aRe Norwin!
